Micro wedding with a BIG color palette!
I think it’s safe to say that as 2020 came to a close, everyone was really looking forward to the start of 2021! 2020 was certainly the year that “kept on giving” but I for one, was not remotely interested in what it was serving. The saying goes that art imitates life and that can be seen through this year’s official colors of the year.
Every year, the experts over at Pantone Color Institute select 1-2 colors that will inevitably affect everything that hits the market that year. For 2021, they have chosen: Ultimate gray – selected to represent “solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation” and illuminating which is a yellow that is both “bright. and cheerful”. Together, this winning combination is meant to be “aspirational and give us hope”
As mentioned, we can fully expect these colors to show up in textiles, art, technology, and ofcourse – wedding and event color palettes! While I love both colors it’s illuminating that has truly caught my eye. I saw it and immediately started dreaming up palettes I wanted to incorporate in my designs! It also made me think back to a micro wedding from this past summer that incorporated illuminating before it was a trend!
This micro wedding was the result of some amazing SoCal vendors coming together to make the wedding dreams come true for a couple who had to postpone due to the Coronavirus. I would describe the palette as warm and romantic. When all the colors came together it was just pure magic! True Splendor Events managed the planning, design, and ceremony florals.

I am looking forward to many more events infused with all the joy that “illuminating” will bring to the celebration scene this year! Can you picture using it for a celebration of your own this year? What colors would you pair it with?
Well, if you do nothing else, remeber – make good design decisions friends!
