3 tips for the perfect at-home date night! Just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Let’s talk date night at home! 

Do you have your Valentine’s day plans set yet? I know, I know many of us will be spending Valentine’s day at home. (Unless you’re in Georgia because they are OPEN OPEN! LOL). However, if you are in a location still under a restrictive Shelter In Place order, celebrating Valentine’s day at home is likely your best bet. While I do love going out for date night, I also enjoy a night in if it’s done right. Below, find my top 3 tips for creating the perfect date night this Valentine’s (or Galentine’s) day!

Set the scene! Date nights at home are the perfect time to switch things up! A few tweaks can completely change the look of your living or dining room and make you forget that you have not left the comfort of your home! Here are a few tricks that I live by. 

Tip #1

Upgrade your chairs and flatware! You don’t necessarily have to buy new ones as most event rental locations will allow you to rent in small quantities so long as you pick them up and return them. Even for the premium rentals that usually go for about $15 per chair – it’s much more affordable when you only need to rent two! I rented a set of luxe black velvet chairs for an at-home anniversary celebration and my fiance loved them!

You can rent flatware as well OR retailers like target have some really lovely options that you can purchase by the piece. When creating a tablescape at home, these two upgrades can really elevate the experience!

Tip #2

Cook a restaurant-quality dinner at home! If you are anything like me, you may have exhausted all of your go-to recipes several times over! Don’t worry, I got you covered! In desperate need of inspiration, I called on my good friend Chef Chelsie (@ceejaidee and @mylushbakery on IG) for recipe tips. Tip #3

Lighting, Lighting, Lighting! It’s one of the easiest ways to transform the look and feel of a room. Get this right and I guarantee you will forget that you didn’t even leave the comforts of home for date night! This can be achieved through candles, uplights or string lights. You select the type of lights based on the type of mood you are wanting to set. For example, candles are always incredibly romantic and uplights using a color like red is sultry. Ikea has candles at a great price point and Amazon is a great resource for uplights or string lights!
